FAQ
MODULAR - Frequently asked questions about Tensaura modular
structures
Vandalism:
Incombustible, self extinguishing fabric.
Fabric panels can be replaced in extreme cases. Curved roof
structures make it difficult to climb or stand on. Unlike
glass or brittle panles, fabric is highly resistant to impact
damage from blunt objects. It is however susceptable to
sharp objects. Small cuts can be repaired with glue patches.
Larger tears may need specialist repair with portable hot
air welders.
Graffiti:
Solvents may damage the PVC coating so should be avoided,
however cleaning with detergents can remove graffiti.
Cleaning:
For the smaller structures this is done with long handled
brushes and soapy water if necessary from step ladders or
tower scaffold. The fabric is coated with dirt resistant
lacquers or surface foils. Careful cleaning maintains their
life and the optimum appearance of the membrane. Generally
clean annually with soapy water.
Planning:
TensAura structures are classed as temporary for planning
purposes. All structures conform to relevant Standards .
Permission should be obtained from land lord, ie. Local
authority, LEA, before installation.
Materials of construction:
Aura uses only the finest materials: Stainless Steel, en3004
or Galvanised steel or aluminium depending on size. Fabric
is architectural quality specification subject to application.
Installation:
TensAura structures are erected by our own fully trained
certificated installers.
Strength:
A typical structural fabric would have a tensile strength
of 8 tonnes in the warp and weft direction and generally
we deisgn to a safety factor of 4 to 6 times the maximum
design loads.
Wind: Are
fabric structures suitable for windy sites? The answer is
yes - as long as they are designed for the site in question.
Tensaura structures are designed to withstand the British
weather, winter and summer.
Fire: The
fabric has fire retardants in the coatings of the fabric
so that it self extinguishes when the flame source is removed.
The fabrics comply to the correct standards.
Warranties:
The fabric manufacturer can issue a 5 year up to 10 year
warranty covering the structural strength and integrity
of the fabric.
